MECOMPANY INC. builds SCUEL, a database of Japan's medical institutions, pharmacies, long-term care providers and physicians. We are a JMDC Group company.
Founded December 2010.
We met someone with a rare disease whose diagnosis had taken ten years to arrive. Not because the treatment did not exist, but because no one could tell them which hospital to go to.
The company began as a hospital search service for patients with intractable diseases. What that work taught us was narrower and more useful than we expected: the quality of the match depends entirely on the quality of the underlying database. Everything since has followed from that. SCUEL is what we built to fix the part that was actually broken.
Rare disease is not a vertical we added later. It is where we started, and it still shapes what we collect — the designations, the research records, the specialist qualifications that indicate expertise no claims dataset can see.

JMDC Inc. is a listed Japanese company built around healthcare data — claims and health checkup records, real-world data analysis, and services for insurers.
For a company entering the Japanese market, the practical consequence is that the pieces do not have to be assembled from separate vendors. Master data on facilities and physicians, claims-based real-world data, and the consulting capability to implement it in a CRM all sit within the same group.
